Prior to immigrating to New Zealand from the UK to take up a position with Fletcher Construction in the industrial relations area, Jeff enjoyed a successful career in the engineering construction and the synthetic fibres industries in general management and industrial engineering roles, working for such reputable international companies as ICI, BOC and Monsanto. His success as a negotiator of a number of complex and commercially sensitive contracts led him naturally into the industrial relations area, which at that time in the UK was fraught with difficulty. It was this expertise and the associated challenges that persuaded him to move into a Human Resources role initially with the emphasis on industrial relations.
In New Zealand Jeff has held a number of Human Resource General Management roles including with the New Zealand Dairy Board (now Fonterra) and with the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand (ECNZ). Upon leaving the New Zealand Dairy Board in 1996, Jeff established his own management consulting business and has carried out a number of varied assignments/contracts for both Public and Private sector organizations. Clients included Public Trust, ACC, BP, MAF, NZ Police, NZ Post and EDS.
From 2006-13, Jeff worked for IRL as Company Secretary/Executive Officer, a position which had two distinct functions. As Executive Officer, he provided professional support, sound and well-reasoned advice, and practical assistance to the CEO in the planning, execution and achievement of IRL’s strategic and operational objectives, in the effective management of the business of the office of the CEO, and in the management of major change programmes.
As Board Secretary, he provided professional, legal and administrative services to the main Board, Board committees and nominated subsidiary and associate companies.
Jeff has a BA Honours Degree in Russian Language and Literature and a BA Degree in German Language and Literature
